BUHLENI – Its jobs galore for unemployed emaSwati as close to 1050 employment opportunities have been availed at Buhleni.

This was revealed during the handover of a factory shell to investors from Kingsgate Clothing Group (KCG) and Euro-Swazi Investments.
The handover was facilitated by Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) which identified the two companies to inject money into the kingdom.
KCG is the largest clothing manufacturing and wholesale company in Southern Africa.

Manqoba Khumalo, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade revealed that at least 1 045 people would eventually benefit from job opportunities that would be made available by the two investors.

Khumalo said Euro-Swazi Investments’ capital injection was E8 million for phase one of their project which was already at implementation stage.
As per the company’s projection, according to the minister, it will hire 45 people for phase one of the project.

Investment

Khumalo said for the second part, KCG would be handed a bigger factory where an investment of E5 million would be made.
He said this phase would create 1 000 jobs.

KCG is already contributing massively to the economy of Eswatini in that it is supporting about 10 companies, as it is the main buyer of garments made in Eswatini under the Cut, Make and Trim (CMT) arrangement.

The clothing made in Eswatini is then distributed to some reputable department stores available locally and outside the kingdom.
The companies are expected to start operating next month.
Khumalo revealed that the total investment for the two companies was E13 million.

During the handover, the minister said this was a milestone for the ministry as it contributed in the drive towards job creation.
Khumalo also said the ministry supported decentralised economic activities in the country.

“As a ministry, we are constantly taking stock to identify and support measures and interventions that are within our reach to contribute to meaningful economic recovery,” said Khumalo.

He noted that the essence of yesterday’s meeting was for the purpose of handing over the factories to the two companies.
Khumalo also said the companies had been operating in other countries.

He further noted that in the past, the location of the factories was not favoured by new industries.
However, the minister said this was changing since major development was taking place everywhere. The minister said it was obvious that Buhleni would soon become a hub for the surrounding areas.
