MANZINI - One of the men wanted in connection with the First National Bank (FNB) E2.8 million theft has been arrested by the police.
However, this is not the key suspect who allegedly escaped to Mozambique and who is employed by the bank.

The arrested person was rounded up by the police on Monday as one of those who allegedly received about E1.3 million in his bank account.
Another suspect allegedly received a portion of the stolen money while a South Africa national allegedly received about E300 000.
The money was allegedly transferred by the FNB employee, Thulani Nkambule (28), who is still wanted by the police.

The arrested suspect, who is employed in one of the reputable companies, will not be named for now pending his court appearance this morning. Information gathered is that after he had been nabbed, he was questioned and is currently assisting the police with information pertaining to the theft case. Last week, the magistrates court released three warrants of arrest for Nkambule and his two friends.

The two friends will be charged for allegedly receiving part of the money belonging to the bank in their accounts.
The money is alleged to have been deposited by Nkambule, before escaping and leaving the country, however, the accounts were later frozen by the bank.

Offence

The FNB employee, who was based at the Matsapha Branch, left the country about a month ago after allegedly committing the offence.
He is said to have left the country together with a friend, who is employed in one of the major parastatals.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that one of the accused persons had been arrested by the police and would appear this morning at the magistrates court.
“The other two accused persons are advised to surrender to the nearest police stations, meanwhile the police are still continuing with their investigations on the matter,” Superintendent Vilakati said.
