SITEKI – The man accused of brutally killing his wife by allegedly stabbing her multiple times with a knife has confessed before a judicial officer.

Jabulani Matsebula (35) reportedly admitted to killing his wife Njabu Jele (45), who was employed as a Section Clerk under the Irrigation Department of Ubombo Sugar Limited.

Jele’s body was discovered with multiple stab wounds near sugar cane fields last Wednesday, two days after she had been reported missing.
In his confession statement, Matsebula reportedly told the judicial officer that he did not intend to kill his wife.

Instead, he said Jele was stabbed accidentally as they wrestled over a knife he was carrying.
He reportedly disclosed to the judicial officer that the quarrel was sparked by Jele who allegedly called him an idiot (silima).
He is said to have told the judicial officer that he took great exception to being called an idiot, hence he grabbed her by the collar and a scuffle ensued.

confessed

As they scuffled, the husband reportedly confessed that a knife fell from his pocket and they both tried to grab it.
Amid the scuffle, he is said to have confessed that Jele accidentally got stabbed three times; in the buttocks, neck and in the stomach.
As his wife bled profusely and subsequently lost consciousness, Matsebula reportedly told the judicial officer that he dragged the body and placed it in a bushy area by the roadside and then fled the scene.

However, before going away, he is said to have admitted that he took Jele’s cellphone and some keys.
Also, in the confession statement, the husband reportedly mentioned that on the day in question, he had waylaid his wife while she returned from work.
He reportedly explained to the judicial officer that he wanted them to talk about the issues affecting their marriage but the wife was reluctant.
