MBABANE - It is uncommon to have a pastor move from the Methodist Church to become a leader in the Jericho Church.

However, Pastor Kevin Bower proved to be a pastor of firsts. Bower, who is popularly known as Dr Craig, revealed that he was now a fully-fledged member of Melika Jericho Church under Bishop Khanyakwezwe Vilakati. He said he was called to the church while he was a pastor of a Methodist Church. He is originally from South Africa but is now based in Eswatini as a traditional doctor. Without stating his reason for joining the Jericho Church, Bower mentioned that he dumped his first church after he met with a pastor known as Khweshamfana. He said he had experienced more wonders since he joined the Jericho Church. Bower caused laughter when he shared his testimony during the Christmas vigil which was held at Ngcoseni on Christmas eve.

“I was a pastor of a Methodist Church, but I have realised that I was called to this church. Bengingumfundisi eMethodist Church, kepha sengihambile futsi angibuyeli. Sengiwalapha manje,” he said before he sang ‘amen’ repeatedly much to the laughter to the congregants. Bower was not the only person who decided to join the Jericho Church. He was among nine pastors who officially joined the church. A majority of the pastors were from the Zion Church while some were those who left the church during the formation of the other faction which is led by Bishop Bhekibandla Vikalati.

Among the pastors who joined the church was Pastor Sithole, who was born in Zimbabwe. Sithole, who is currently based in South Africa, declared that he would not return to his home country. The newcomers of the church were officially introduced to the congregants by the elder of the Vilakati family, Jeremiah Vilakati. Jeremiah said the testimony of the newcomers was a fulfilment of the prophecy that was revealed by God to Melika Vilakati when he founded the church.

Unite

According to Jeremiah, the Jericho Church was established to unite nations. “The founder of the church spoke about the storm which would affect the church; however, he mentioned that things would get back to normal after the storm.
