BURNT TRUCK DRIVER DIES

MBABANE – Siboniso Mlangeni was at the wrong place at the wrong time on Sunday and this has cost him his life.

This was one of the six people who were burnt at Don Killuminati Bar, popularly known as Killis, situated near Ngwenya Border Gate. The bar’s disc jockey (DJ) is said to have had an altercation with a friend and later went to purchase petrol which he poured on some of the patrons who were inside the bar. He then set the place alight. The incident happened on Sunday night and Mlangeni passed away yesterday morning.

Mlangeni, who was a truck driver, died from the burn wounds following the attack, while admitted to the Mbabane Government Hospital. He was being looked after by a female relative from the night he was brought to hospital. His body was taken to the morgue in the morning after the relatives were informed of his passing. Mlangeni had gone into the bar to buy two beers which he would have drunk inside his truck, while waiting for Monday morning to drive back to work, according to the bar staff. He was the one who sustained the worst burns on the day, according to witnesses, as he was by the counter which is close to the snooker table.

According to relatives of patients in Ward 15, where Mlangeni was admitted, his stomach was swelling from the day he arrived in the ward. The relatives stated that they had observed how Mlangeni was drinking a lot of water since he got to the ward. During a visit to the hospital on Tuesday, Mlangeni was found surrounded by friends and he could hardly talk. He was seen being pushed in a wheelchair to the toilet twice on Tuesday afternoon. Mlangeni had visible burn wounds all over the body.
