MBABANE – Leading by example, His Majesty King Mswati III has been bestowed with an award of excellence in leadership.

The King, who is the chairperson of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), was honoured by Roll Back Malaria in an event that was held in Mozambique last week.

Roll Back Malaria is an initiative intended to halve the suffering caused by the disease. It had been developed as a social movement.
The King was represented by the Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku, who was accompanied by the Minister of  Health, Lizzy Nkosi.
Narrating about the event, Masuku said Roll Back Malaria was presenting a performance report on how countries fared in the fight against malaria.

“It was reported that in 2017, most countries did not perform very well.
‘‘However, an improvement had been noted this year,” he said.
Masuku also mentioned that the minister of health was on a panel where she related on challenges and what the country had done in the fight against the deadly disease.

He also pointed out that the organisation led by His Majesty, ALMA, outshined most institutions in the same battle.
This award was received on behalf of the organisation by the King, Masuku narrated.

“Winning this award places the country in good standings because the King wants us to attain a First World status in 2022. We cannot achieve our goal if we still have to fight malaria,” he said.

Even though ALMA had been awarded, Masuku said there was still a lot of ground which need to be covered.
