SITEKI – You can’t return to school! Police ordered the knife-wielding Bekezela Primary School pupil not to return to school yesterday, after he claimed to have been healed. The pupil (15) had hoped to sit for examinations yesterday after spending the weekend at a residence of a man of God, where he reportedly received divine healing and faith counselling sessions.

However, he was disappointed when two police officers arrived at his homestead yesterday morning and ordered him not to set foot at the school. “Instead, the officers suggested that the pupil should go to the social welfare department in Big Bend. They stressed that it would not be a good idea for him to return to school following what happened last week,” said Ndumiso Mngometulu, who is elder brother to the pupil.

He said the officers, in the company of a member of the family, then left the disappointed pupil and headed to the school to meet the head teacher.
During the meeting with the head teachers, all parties reportedly agreed that it was pointless for the pupil to sit for the examination following that he had already missed a lot of papers.

The issue of the pupils and teachers who are still traumatised was reportedly raised by the head teacher and the consensus was that the pupil should remain at home for now.
The police officers then fetched the pupil from home and took him to the department of social welfare in Big Bend, said a family member.
“Social workers first interviewed me and then interviewed the boy. It’s like they wanted to find out more about the situation back home,” said a relative of the pupil who was interviewed by social workers.
