TEACHERS CARRY KNIVES TO SCHOOL FOR PROTECTION

MANZINI – Teachers in a certain school around the Manzini region are reportedly coming to school with knives as a way of protecting themselves from a colleague.

The teacher, who is also a pastor, allegedly assaulted his female colleague but school authorities are playing the silent game on the issue. The alleged incident allegedly took place about a week ago and has left some teachers frightened. So frightened are the female teachers that they reportedly carry knives in their handbags to protect themselves against the man of the cloth.

The names of the school and pastor are known to this publication but will not be revealed at the moment as the matter was not reported to the police.
According to well-placed sources, the pastor and one of the female teachers at the school got into a verbal showdown after keys to the school library went missing. The impeccable sources alleged that the female teacher said the keys were last with the pastor while the man of God argued that the female teacher was the last to be in possession of them.

This, according to sources, led to the pastor physically assaulting his female colleague in full view of other teachers in the staffroom. The sources alleged that school authorities also witnessed the incident but did nothing about it.

They said they did not know what could be done about the pastor’s conduct. Sources said the pastor was feared by most at the school as he allegedly used strong language when involved in disagreements with his colleagues.

The sources said they were shocked to see the assaulted teacher and pastor walking together later on the day. Reports were to the effect that the female teacher did not lay any charges against the pastor as they resolved the issue amicably. What concerned them was that the pastor might continue assaulting other teachers at the school if he would get away with what happened.  “Some teachers even carry knives in their handbags because they fear the pastor,” claimed the sources.
