PIGG’S PEAK – A pupil at Mhlatane High School is lucky to be alive after he fell from the first floor of the boys’ dormitory.
* Mario, the injured pupil, is said to be doing Form IV at the school.

The incident is said to have happened on Monday at around 4am when the pupils were preparing for class.
Other pupils were stunned when one of them left the hostel claiming he was being called by someone outside.
“We wondered why he did not use the stairs but chose to use the window,” said some of the pupils.

Mario is alleged to have heard strange voices calling him to go outside but they allegedly directed him to a window where he then jumped off.
The level from where he fell is said to be at least five metres above the ground.

Mario is said to have hit head first on the ground, causing severe injury. His screams attracted the attention of other pupils and the boarding master, who briefly attended to him before he was rushed to hospital.

The incident is said to have left fellow pupils shocked, as they did not understand why he went through the window when it was clear that he could get injured.
Mhlatane High School has about 1 600 pupils and some of the pupils who were interviewed claimed they were not aware of the incident.

Mario is said to have sustained most of his injuries on his head, leaving other pupils and teacher saying he was very lucky to be alive.
“You cannot survive if you land with your head from such a distance,” said a teacher.
