MKHOMBE: ‘SINCANDAMATJE’ SHUT ME OFF ALL GOVERNMENT INSTITUTION

MBABANE – Sam Mkhombe holds no grudges against anyone even though his life was made a misery.

Mkhombe clarified this during an interview where he passed his condolences to royalty and the Dlamini family on the death of former Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini yesterday.

During the interview, he also appealed to unions to consider setting aside their industrial actions until a new government was in place.
Mkhombe said some people might think he made this appeal because he was privileged or favoured by someone he only identified as Sincandamatje; something he said was not true.  Our investigations unearthed that Sincandamatje is the former prime minister who passed away last Friday.
Income

“If there is any person who is hurting the most, it is me. Sincandamatje shut me off any government institution, any parastatal, any international organisation where Swaziland (Eswatini) is a member and instructed his Cabinet in 2011 or 2012 and said I should never be seen near any of these institutions,” Mkhombe said.

Mkhombe continued to state, “I have been without income for the past almost eight years because of him but I have never, I have never treated him as an enemy because I care for my country.”

Mkhombe, in a slightly shaky voice as though he was holding back tears, said what was done to him was not an excuse for him to join forces with those who destroyed the country.

The former King’s Office private secretary’s services were terminated in January 2011, about two weeks after he was suspended together with Mathendele Dlamini.
They were reportedly suspended after a brief investigation into allegations that they were involved in a ploy to revive the Imbokodvo National Movement (INM).

Mkhombe said he was hurting but the sword had to be buried so the country could be rebuilt.
Mkhombe, making reference to trade unions, said through recent protests, they had shown that Sincandamatje had successfully reproduced himself. He said they were pushing down the country while it was already drowning. He appealed to them to be patriotic; explaining that Their Majesties had to be given a chance to form a new government.

“The way the protesters are behaving is like they are saying to His Majesty, akubuyelwe kukhanywane and in that way they are suggesting to His Majesty to look for more Sincandamatjes, which the nation does not want to see,” Mkhombe said.
Hbe had earlier listed the protesters to be nurses, teachers and public servants.

Mkhombe stated that the nation wanted to see His Majesty surrounding himself with new brains. He said the nation had already armed His Majesty based on the qualifications and experiences of the recently elected Members of Parliament. He said it was evident that the nation was arming the King for a new chapter and added that this was proof that people were tired of the last government of the country. He said they wanted to, for the first time, see the first government of Eswatini being a different one.

Mkhombe shared that he worked with both trade unions and His Majesty, whom he served for 16 years as advisor and private secretary.
“I know His Majesty, I know him very well, he does take good advice, let us allow him to surround himself with new brains and people who will have a heart for this country,” Mkhombe stated.

He appealed to trade unions to empathise with the country and give it a chance to revive the economy. He said he was confident that the economy could be revived if all efforts were put together towards rebuilding the country.
Theory
Mkhombe, when asked about the timing of his comment, seeing that appointed MPs were expected to be announced soon, as well as others to be in political positions and whether he did not have his eyes set on that, he simply brushed off this theory.
He said those who wanted such political positions started canvassing for them a long time ago. He said his belief was that the processes were over by now.
“Sincerely, I am just appealing to my nation to think and put Swaziland (Eswatini) first, put our beloved country first,” Mkhombe said.
He said the protesters may be hurting but they had to put the country first.
He said no one could find fairness in finishing off a country that was already broke. He said even toddlers could see that government had no money.
He appealed to them to do an introspection as individuals and take time to reflect on themselves.
Mkhombe said if they would do this religiously, they would find that they were on the same side of the river bank as Sincandamatje. He said looking deeper, they would find that they were like little clones.
During the interview, Mkhombe first conveyed his condolences to Their Majesties, the Dlamini family and make Simelane following the death of the former prime minister. He said Simelane took care of Dlamini during a critical time.
Meanwhile, Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA) Secretary General Mduduzi Gina, said they usually refrained from responding to comments made by individuals. Gina said they would, however, respond to Mkhombe as an elderly person.
Gina said if Mkhombe’s intention was not politically driven, he would have approached the federation and engaged them personally. He said Mkhombe made similar statements to those made by courts that unions should hold their industrial actions until a new government was in office.
He questioned why Mkhombe did not appeal to them before the courts made their ruling.
“We do not know what his interests are because we do not see him as a person of authority anywhere,” Gina said.
Gina further alleged that Mkhombe could not come to the party when he had authority. He said Mkhombe allegedly did something which made powers that be believe that he was not fit to continue serving them. He said they could not listen to him as he failed to convince them that he could lead even when he was given authority to do so.
Gina said they viewed his statement as a political strategy.
