MBABANE – There are three admitted lawyers who are running for the Member of Parliament (MP) position in the country from their different constituencies.

Stanley Malindzisa, Makhosi Vilakati and Sikhumbuzo Hlophe have been praised by the Law Society of Swaziland (LLS)for winning the Primary Elections.
Malindzisa is under the Motshane Constituency, while Vilakati comes from lamgabhi Constituency and Hlophe is under Mpolonjeni in Mbabane.
President of the LSS Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli stated that the three men had exercised their freedom of choice.

Mdluli stated that if they were to win, it would benefit the country, as it would change the people’s mindset about Parliament.
He stated that people now take being an MP as a career in politics, when important laws for the country have to be enacted by parliamentarians.

“In Parliament there are laws made, we need the participation of lawyers in Parliament, when making these laws. If they make it to Parliament they will help to make or direct certain issues about the law,” Mdluli said.

Mdluli stated that they were happy as a society that the three men had joined to become parliamentarians to help the nation.
The president mentioned that some people who wanted to be MPs do so just to ensure that they have a pension at the end of their term and not to better the country.

He elaborated that there were some conflicting laws in the Constitution and having lawyers in Parliament to harmonise these would help.
“We wish these good men the best of luck in the Secondary Elections because Parliament is a very important place for the country,” Mdluli said.
