SITEKI – A dead body of a male was found with dismembered parts and a missing leg in what is feared to be a ritual murder incident.

Police said the body was discovered on Saturday in a bushy area near eMalayinini (civil servants flats), not very far from Siteki Town Centre.
According to the police, a woman who was passing by made the grim discovery and quickly alerted the police.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and found that the body was already in a decomposed state, said a source close to police investigations.
“The woman was passing by but was drawn to the body by a very unpleasant smell,” the source explained.

People who saw the scene told this publication that there was a large bag made of sack material (khonzekhaya) near the body.
“The head was on its own and the body was also on its own. Other parts were chopped off. And one leg was missing,” added the source.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba said, as of yesterday, the body had not been identified.
However, sources close to police investigations said the body could belong to a young man who was reported missing about a week ago.
According to the source, the man was herding goats on a farm near Siteki before he disappeared on July 29.

His boss, according to the source, reported him missing to the police on August 2.
The source added that the man was reportedly last seen near Siteki factory shell, which is not very far from the spot where the body was found.
Mamba, the police spokesperson, said a post-mortem would be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Confirmed

He confirmed that the body was found with missing body parts.
“At the moment, we cannot speculate on the cause of death. We do not want to say this could be related to ritual murder. All we can say is that investigations are ongoing,” he stated.
A week ago, a body of a young man was found with multiple injuries at Lugongolweni, along Siteki/Mhlumeni Public Road.
