MBABANE – The celebration of Swazi Mobile’s one-year anniversary has come with good news for the company’s subscribers.

The fast growing mobile company, which officially went live  countrywide at the end of July last year, is on the verge of introducing the much loved Mobile Money service  to its customers.

The company has allegedly been given the go-ahead by the Central Bank of Eswatini to now offer the service which has been regarded by many as one of the most convenient.
Mobile money is an electronic wallet service which is available in many countries and allows users to store, send and receive money using their mobile phones.

Its safe and easy electronic payments make Mobile Money a popular alternative to bank accounts.
It can be used on both smart phones and basic feature phones.

Locally, it was introduced by Swazi MTN and is currently used by over 500 000 of its subscribers.
The service has grown as it is now considered one of the most convenient ways of purchasing items  in shops, pay bills, school fees and topping up airtime.

Secure

It stores funds in secure electronic accounts linked to mobile phone numbers and ensures that they are secure as is the case with banks.
Worth noting is that the service is more convenient for places where people were less likely to have bank account.
Swazi Mobile Corporate Communications Manager Nosipho Shongwe confirmed that the company had received the approval.

Granted

“Yes, we have been granted our Mobile Money licence by the Central Bank of Eswatini. The product will be rolled out to all customers at a date that will be announced soon. Mobile networks across the region operate Mobile Money businesses to meet their customers’ needs.
