EZULWINI - The Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community can now freely worship in two churches in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The latest developments were announced during the of the Eswatini Pride launch, which took place at the Happy Valley Hotel yesterday.
Making the announcement was Rock of Home Communications Officer, Melusi Simelane.

Even though he made it clear that they were not going to publicise their places of worship, or even mention where they were situated, Simelane said they were excited that their members were now enjoying the right to fellowship.

He said they could not reveal the churches as they had fears that it would lead to discrimination of their members.
In 2016, an article was published by our sister newspaper, the Times of Swaziland to the effect that one church that welcomed homosexuals had been established.

It was reported that it was located within the Manzini region and that residents around the area had taken note of it after seeing members of the LGBTI community fellowshipping in a tent pitched there.
Residents even named the homestead that housed the church as kaDali (at darling’s place), a name they said was derived from the behaviour displayed by the male church members, whom they believed were gay.
