MBABANE – Action movie-like drama was witnessed on Tuesday afternoon at Sidwashini, as a man grabbed a nine-year-old boy and bundled him into his car boot, an incident that saw shots being fired by the police.

The community of Sidwashini feared the worst when they saw the man taking *Sicelo, who tried to run away but was caught by the man.
According to the boy’s father, Christopher Dlamini, Sicelo ran towards his grandmother’s place, which is also at Sidwashini , to seek refuge.

The incident happened after 2pm. Sicelo, who resides with his father and siblings, on the day, was riding bicycles with his friends on the road.

Before Sicelo was bundled into the boot, he was allegedly beaten by the suspect, *Maseko who then drove off with him towards Mbangweni while the child was still in the boot. Maseko was allegedly driving a Honda Fit.

Brother

Some of the neighbours who witnessed this called Sicelo’s older brother and informed him of the incident since they could not stop the vehicle on time.

The brother then called his father (Christopher) and they met at home and tried to trace where Maseko resided. They were luckily informed by a resident that he could be found at Mbangweni Township.

A community member, who works at one of the filling stations by the roadside, was able to recognise that the Honda Fit was allegedly driven by Maseko and  informed Christopher.
At this time, the police had been  called and the officers who are stationed at the shops near the market with the EBC voter registration team also tried to help.
