KANDINDA – After a discovery that a teacher had allegedly molested and sodomised three pupils, residents, including the family of two of the victims, attacked and severely assaulted him.

The teacher, Sithembiso Mbetse (28) of Malutha, made a court appearance before Magistrate Xolile Nxumalo on Friday at Malkerns Circuit Court.
This was after he was arrested by the police and charged with four offences, which included indecent assault and contravening the Children’s Protection and Welfare Act.

The suspect is a teacher at KaNdinda Primary School.
Statements submitted in court reveal that Mbetse would allegedly call the pupils for extra lessons and studying inside his house, which is situated within the school teacher’s quarters.

“He would then make them drink red wine with them and upon realising that they were intoxicated, he would then kiss, perform acts of an indecent character and further sodomise them.

“This went on until one of the pupils decided to report the matter to his family. We are still shocked because two of the pupils are related,” a teacher at the school, who preferred anonymity, alleged last week.
The charges have aggravating factors in that Mbetse would allegedly not use protection when committing the offences, exposing the pupils to the risks of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
