SANDLANE ZWANE IS NEW MATSAPHA MAYOR

MATSAPHA – Former King’s advisor Sandlane Zwane is the new Matsapha Mayor and he promises to deliver for the King, rate- payers and nation at large.


Zwane, who is also a former member of the Border Restoration Committee (BRC), was voted as the new Matsapha Mayor yesterday evening and he walloped appointed Councillor Nkhanyeti Ngwenya, who is the former mayor, by five votes to three.


In his remarks, which he delivered after being elected to the position, Zwane thanked the Lord by saying; “God has been good to me.”
The mayor said he would make sure that the council remains unified by fighting any division within the councillors.


He told the councillors that the council was not their home but a residence for the ratepayers.

“So, our interest should be that of the ratepayers.”
He urged the councillors to give the ratepayers the respect they deserve as the main contributors in the town.
Zwane then thanked the councillors for voting for him in their democratic and constitutional right and promised them to be true leader as they would be gunning to make the city attain First world status by 2022.


Meanwhile, Councillor Siphesihle Sibandze was voted as the deputy mayor while Councillor Muzi Ndzimandze was elected as the Chairman of the Finance Committee. Councillor Mavela Shongwe is the deputy chairman of the finance committee.
Worth noting is that the former Mayor, Ngwenya, who lost to Zwane, was nominated for the finance committee but he declined.
