SENIOR PROSECUTOR STONED TO DEATH IN BRAWL

MBABANE – A senior prosecutor was brutally murdered yesterday morning at Msunduza location following an alcohol-fuelled brawl a few metres away from a popular entertainment place.


The killing of Stanley Ndabenhle Dlamini, popularly known as ‘Stan’ which occurred in the early hours of the morning, has shocked a number of residents at the densely populated location in the outskirts of Mbabane.


A popular Mbabane socialite, who is employed as a civil servant under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, has since been charged with the murder of the prosecutor and is expected to appear in court this morning.


Dlamini’s official position is that of Senior Crown Counsel in the ministry of justice and constitutional affairs.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was in the company of another well-known socialite Menzi ‘Gauzen’ Gama who was first to be taken in to assist the Mbabane police with investigations on the matter.


However, it was later disclosed that the latter was questioned for a brawl outside the entertainment area.  
He recorded a statement before he was released, when the eventual suspect was finally apprehended and charged with the murder of Dlamini.


One witness said the deceased, who was in the company of a female friend, had spent the night at the nearby hangout spot.
At the crack of dawn, he had an altercation with the suspect that led to a fight. At the time, there were a lot people who watched the brutal killing of Dlamini, but none tried to help him.


“As they exchanged heated words, blows were exchanged, until Dlamini was hit on the head with a big stone and fell on the ground. When police arrived at the scene, the crowd dispersed, including the female friend who was with Dlamini the whole night,” the eye witness said.


“His assailant stamped on him until he was left motionless,” one eye-witness narrated. 
During the visit to the incident scene at about 8am yesterday, there were still a couple of people who were watching police from the Scenes of Crime Unit writing statements.
The male and female police officers were seen carrying a yellow measuring tape, near the spot where Dlamini was said to have been taken to the hospital.
