MBABANE – After serving for eight months, Macford Sibandze is set to leave fast growing mobile company, Swazi Mobile.

Sibandze, who currently holds the position of Corporate Communications Manager at the company, is set to leave at the end of May 2018. The former Cabinet minister started working for Swazi Mobile in August 2017 as the Brand and Communications Manager and part of his responsibility was to ensure that there was continued and appropriate communication between the company and the public. Sibandze played an important role during the go-live period and contributed in positioning the brand in the market. His exit was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Penberton who stated that Sibandze had done an excellent job in making sure that the Swazi Mobile brand was known throughout the country by reaching out and representing the company at important national events.

In the eight months that he has been with Swazi Mobile, the company has been able to spread its wings through the opening of experience centres in different towns, including Simunye, Buhleni, Manzini, Ezulwini and Nhlangano to name a few. In total, Swazi Mobile now boasts about 12 experience centres and has in the past few months been busy improving its network with an aim to cover as many areas as possible. Penberton could not delve much on Sibandze’s destination save to say that he was going to pursue other interests.  “He has expressed his appreciation to the company for the opportunity to work for it and be part of its growth,” Penberton stated. Called for comment, Sibandze, who sounded like he was in a jovial mood, confirmed the latest developments and couldn’t stop singing praises to the late Swazi Mobile Chairman, Victor Gamedze, for trusting him with the responsibility.

In jest, he emphasised that his exit did not mean much as he would always be a lifetime ambassador for the company. He thanked the Board, management and staff of Swazi Mobile for making his job easy. On Sibandze’s pursuit, Penberton did not comment much but only stated that it included being a business consultant and independent distributor. Before joining Cabinet, Sibandze was a member of parliament for the Manzini North Inkhundla. Before that, he was active in the arts industry as he owned a group of youngsters called Kip Kip. He also introduced the first big comedy competition themed ‘Lol’ which gave birth to stars such as ‘Smallz’ and ‘Mdura’.
