PIGG’S PEAK – You do not have to consume alcohol for you to visit a bar but do it if you have to.

Businesswoman Nokunceda Bujela urged women to reach out in every place so they can encourage women participation in the next parliamentary elections.

Bujela was speaking during a civic education event by Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) held at Gobolondlo Hall in Pigg’s Peak.

She said just like men who create opportunities by playing golf, women should also do the same.
Bujela said this could give women an opportunity to interact with more people so that they can eventually get to Parliament.

Churches

“Women are spending too much time in churches instead,” said Bujela.
She urged women to support female candidates during the next parliamentary elections.
The women who attended resolved that during this year’s elections, they would vote for a women.
Bujela told women that they were equally to blame for the existing inequalities because they shunned voting for women.
She narrated how she was raised in a home with four other siblings who were all female.

Bujela said since there were no boys in her home, the girls were responsible for doing chores normally done by boys.
In encouraging women to vote for females, Bujela further urged them not to exchange their votes for free rice.
Dumisani Dlamini and Zanele Tsabedze from WLSA, did presentations during the event.

Dlamini said the aim of the event was to educate women on issues relating to the economy, welfare as well as political issues.
WLSA targets women in various communities and educate them about their rights as inscribed in the Constitution.
