MBABANE – Three Swazi nationals were arrested in Ermelo, South Africa after they were found with 68 blocks of dagga, with a street value of close to E100 000.

The three were travelling in different vehicles headed for various destinations to deliver their consignment.
Information gathered from South African sources was that the police first arrested a couple for the illegal possession of the herb.
They are said to have admitted in court that they were on their way to Pretoria.

According to a report made by the police who nabbed the couple from Manzini, the suspects are said to have informed the law enforcers that it was the woman’s birthday and they were supposed to be celebrating it after they had received the money from the dagga sale.
The arrests were made during Operation Fiela in Ermelo on Friday.

The SA police are said to have discovered nine blocks of compressed dagga concealed in the rear panel of the vehicle the duo was travelling in. While searching the car, the police also became suspicious of a spare wheel, whose sound suggested it contained something.

“The male suspect confessed he had more dagga stashed in the tyre. He further volunteered to cut the wheel open. A further 48 dagga blocks were found stashed inside the spare wheel,” explained Sergeant Peace Mbokane in an article published by Mpumalanga News.
The suspects were arrested on the spot and they face charges of dagga possession and dealing.

They were found in possession of 30kg dagga, worth an estimated street value of E45 000. They were both detained at Chrissiesmeer police holding cells, while they waited to appear at Ermelo Magistrates Court.
