BUHLENI – If the adage that refers to children as ‘umliba loyembili’ is anything to go by, then Swaziland has been robbed.

A six-year-old boy *Sipho has become the latest victim of domestic violence after he was allegedly beaten by his father *Dumo to the point of death.

Sipho is said to have been sired by Dumo outside wedlock.
He was supposed to be buried last Saturday but the funeral is said to have been postponed to next Saturday after the two families of the deceased resolved to wait for a while.

The alleged murder is said to have happened last Monday.
After his son had died, allegedly from the assault, Dumo is said to have reported the matter to the police where he said the boy fell off a guava tree.

It could not be established why Sipho was viciously assaulted by his father but the alleged beating is said to have taken place at home.
According to information gathered from various members of the community, Sipho was assaulted by his father in the presence of a family member who was afraid to report the matter to the police.

It is alleged that the six-year-old may have been slapped several times across the face and also hit on the head with an unknown object, causing severe injury.
“He was beaten until he bled from the nose and mouth,” alleged a resident. He said Sipho then became unconscious but his father suggested that he be given some water to drink after realising that he was not responsive.
