MANZINI – After failing to discipline four Grade VI pupils, the new Mbuluzi Primary School head teacher opted to open a case of assault against them.
Cedric Mbingo turned to the police for help supposedly in fear for his life.

This follows an incident that happened on Monday March 26, 2018 at the school.
Sources said a group of male Grade VI pupils allegedly ganged up on him when he tried to punish them. According to one of the implicated pupils, it was during Religious Education period that violence almost erupted.
The pupils said Mbingo taught them this subject and on the fateful day, he did an exercise where pupils had to orally answer questions.

*Dumsani said those who failed to correctly answer Mbingo’s questions were made to stand in front of the class, against the chalkboard.
This, according to the pupil, disturbed the rest of the scholars because they were obstructed from seeing what was written on the board, yet they were supposed to write a quiz.
As a result, the pupil said he and three other classmates asked the standing pupils to sit down so that they could be able to see what was on the board.

Shouting

However, this did not sit well with Mbingo, who allegedly told the shouting boys that he was the only teacher in the classroom and that he was the one with authority to say whether the pupils should sit down or not.
The pupil further stated that Mbingo ordered that the four of them should go to his office to be punished for being insolent.

Even though the pupils went to the head teacher’s office, when Mbingo wanted to punish them, Dumsani said they refused because they felt they had done nothing wrong.
“When the head teacher failed to beat us, he wrote our names on a small notebook then returned back to class.

“We followed him with the intention to continue with the lesson but to our surprise, he told us not to set foot in his class,” Dumisani said.
The scholar said even on this episode, the four of them first resisted to leave the classroom because they thought Mbingo was irrational about a trivial matter.
This supposedly angered the head teacher who stomped towards the four pupils who were by the door and ordered them out of class.
