MANZINI – An all-night church service presented an opportunity for thugs to break into vehicles belonging to the congregants and steal various items.

Some of those who had their items stolen include two South African nationals who were attending the services hosted by the Kukhanyokusha Church in Zion, situated at KaKhoza.

The two include a senior police officer from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and an administrator at Gauteng Provincial Government who had their posh vehicles broken into and valuable items stolen while in the kingdom. The police officer, Sicelo Morris Chili, who resides in Rooderport, told the court that he was based in Pretoria at the SAPS and on the day of the incident, he was driving his white Jeep registered BW 13 TV GP.

He told the court that he had come to the country to solely attend the all-night prayer. “While inside the church, during the early hours of Sunday, we were informed that our vehicles had been broken into by unknown people. We went to inspect the cars and I discovered that the right rear passenger window had been completely damaged or broken.

When I checked inside the vehicle, I discovered that my luggage was still there, however, other valuables had been stolen,” he said.
Chili also mentioned that the local police were immediately called and statements were recorded.
He told the court that the broken glass to the passenger door was valued at E5 000.
