MBABANE - The ongoing Sicephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) strike has cost some patients who have missed doctors’ appointments.

Sithembile Ntombela is one of the clients of SMVAF who said she had to see a doctor on the second week of March as per her physiotherapist’s recommendation.

Initially, she had been seeing her physiotherapist, who later informed her that her knee injury had complicated and she had to see a doctor.

Ntombela had hoped that SMVAF office would contact her as per the procedure.
She said she waited at home for the call but nobody came to her rescue until she decided to call the company last week. Again, she alleges that she never received any assistance.

“I called again on Monday and communicated with one driver identified as Hlophe, who told me that the person who had to assist me was out of office,” she said.

According to Ntombela, they were usually attended to by a doctor from SMVAF.
She said her knee had complications and would at times get twisted, which was why her physiotherapist recommended that she sees a doctor.

At times, she said she failed even to make any movements due to severe pain and twisting of the knee.
Ntombela was involved in a kombi accident at Hhelehhele on April 26, 2017.
