MBABANE – If reports that government has lifted the ban on imported processed meat products are factual, some retail stores in the country are not comfortable with restocking Enterprise products.

This was expressed by some representatives of the retail stores who were reached for comment on the issue.
Retail Operations Manager at Buy ’n Save Spar Group Johan Lues said they were not yet ready and were still going to conduct their own investigations with the local supplier, AD Enterprises.

Lues said they were yet to verify whether the local supplier, AD Enterprises, had returned all the contaminated products back to South Africa.
He said they were not aware of reports by the Minister of Health Sibongile Simelane lifting the ban on imports of processed meat products.

Lues said he was yet to phone the minister to find out what was expected of them regarding the situation.
However, he said they would not, anytime soon stock Enterprise products until they were 100 per cent sure that the products from this brand were free from contamination.

Most of the retail shops which were visited around Mbabane have not yet brought back the Enterprise brand products in their refrigerators. These include the Buy ’n Save Spar Group and Pick n Pay among others. The minister, as quoted by the Sunday Observer, is said to have ordered retail stores to clean their refrigerators and storage rooms before putting in new stock.

Further, she is said to have instructed that retail stores should report on new stock that arrives to ensure that the stock was not from the previous contaminated batch.
