MANZINI - A 29-year-old man narrowly cheated death when the vehicle he was driving collided with another and two people were killed.

The accident happened on Sunday at around 6:30pm at Gum Tree near Lugaganeni. Information gathered was that the 29-year-old man of Logoba was driving a Mazda Demio and was from the Timbutini direction when the car’s tyres burst.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road onto the lane of oncoming traffic from Manzini.
Witnesses said it happened so fast and just when the driver was trying to control the car so that it would halt, it rammed onto an Isuzu LDV that was from the Manzini direction. The Isuzu; which was driven by a 50-year-old woman, overturned several times before hitting a Toyota Hino bus driven by a 38-year-old man.

Two passengers who were travelling in the Demio; a 27-year-old woman from Timbutini and a 38-year-old man of Buhleni, were rushed to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital, where they  were certified dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was admitted to the same hospital and the Isuzu driver was admitted to Manzini Clinic.
Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer, Assistant Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the accident.
