HUNTER ARRESTED FOR RAPE OF 15-YR-OLD GIRL

MBABANE – Popular Private Investigator Hunter Shongwe has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, who is also his close relative.

The relationship between Shongwe and the minor wil not be revealed for ethical reasons.

Shongwe, who is a staunch member of the Red Gown Sect, is alleged  to have repeatedly raped the minor between August 2016 and September 2016. 
This means that he allegedly raped the girl for a period of a month on different occasions.

The complainant is now 17-year-old.
Shongwe was arrested by Mbabane police officers at around 5am on Monday.
He yesterday appeared before Mbabane Magistrate Lenhle Zulu, who remanded him in custody pending his committal to the High Court.
According to the charge sheet, the accused (Shongwe) unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the complainant without her consent.

The rape is allegedly accompanied by aggravating circumstances as envisaged by Section 185 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 67/1983.
The aggravating circumstances according to the Crown were that:  Shongwe allegedly caused physical trauma to the minor by allegedly raping her; he allegedly did not use a condom during the commission of the offence, thus exposing the complainant to sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS; and he broke the trust between him and the complainant.

Also, the complainant was a minor who was incapable of consenting to sexual intercourse.
Besides the rape charge, Shongwe was slapped with three other charges, which included contravening the Arms and Ammunition Act, violating Section 16 of the Identification Order 4/1998 and that of contravening the Children’s Welfare and Protection Act of 2012.
He is alleged to have violated the Children’s Welfare and Protection Act between the months of August and December 2016.
“In that upon or about August 2016 to December 2016, the accused (Shongwe) unlawfully and intentionally caused psychical, emotional, psychological trauma  and sexually abused the complainant who was aged 15 years,” reads part of the charge sheet.
