WOMAN WHIPPED WITH CABLE OVER LIGUSHA

MBABANE – A mother of two has sustained severe injuries after she was allegedly beaten by the father of her children with an electric cable all over the body.
According to *Happy, not only did the father of her children assault her with the electric cable, but he also used an iron rod. The incident happened at Gobholo, an area situated in the outskirts of Mbabane. The survivor alleged that trouble began when she asked her lover, *Musa about ochre (ligusha) which she found in his house at Gobholo when she paid him a visit.
Happy alleged that she agreed with Musa that she would visit him without notifying him after her lover had promised to be faithful when begging for reconciliation following a break-up that bordered around infidelity. She said her sole intention was to establish who cooked the ligusha for Musa since as far as she knew, he could not cook it. Happy said the manner in which the ligusha was cooked left her with the impression that it was cooked by a woman.
“I had a problem with someone cooking for the father of my children because he told me that he had separated with his girlfriend before he begged for reconciliation. I did not know that I was opening a can of worms by asking about the ligusha,” said the survivor.
When questioned further, the survivor revealed that apart from the ligusha, there were some pending issues between her and the father of her children. She said some of the issues resulted in her relocating to her parental homestead at Mvutshini after Musa deserted her with the children at the homestead which they built together near his parental homestead at Gobholo. “He always demanded that I relocate to Gobholo with the children yet he failed to take full responsibility while we were still together. I almost committed suicide due to the hellish life I was subjected to,” she said.
Happy said she was saved by the quick intervention of her employer who advised her to seek counselling from the Royal Swaziland Police under the Domestic Violence Department.
She said she had a desire to meet with the organisations which were dealing with abuse related issues in the country.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent, Khulani Mamba confirmed the matter. Mamba said the police were investigating the case.
