MBABANE – Interpol has been roped in to assist in the investigations of the murder of prominent businessman Victor Gamedze.

Interpol is short for International Police. This was disclosed by Senior Deputy National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini, during a press conference held at the Police headquarters, in Mbabane yesterday.

He said they have already sought assistance from experts to assist in analysing the video footage.
According to Dlamini, they were still waiting for feedback from the experts. “The case has been accorded a high priority status, given the seriousness of the matter,” said the senior deputy commissioner.

He said they found it prudent to call the press conference yesterday. “The press conference is meant to address the murder incident of prominent businessman and soccer administrator Victor Gamedze, that continues and justifiably so, on account of its brazen and atrocious nature, to be a subject of screaming newspaper headlines,” said Dlamini.

He also highlighted that the media briefing was for the purpose of updating the nation on the progress of the investigations.
The update, according to Dlamini, was also meant to allay fears that might be encroaching upon members of the business community, in particular and the public in general, in relation to their safety and security. “To members of the business community and the general public, we wish to make an assurance that their safety remains of utmost priority to the police,” added Dlamini.

He pointed out that they always endeavoured to ensure that they (businesspeople) were protected from all forms of crime. “If there is any member of the of the business community who feels threatened on account of one reason or the other, they should get in touch with the nearest station commander for requisite assistance,” said Dlamini.
