WAS VICTOR’S KILLING LINKED TO FOOTBALL?

MANZINI – Some prominent businesspeople from the hub believe the assassination of Victor Gamedze was closely linked to soccer.
This is the main reason that has been put forth as the motive behind the shooting of the businessman.

Most of the interviewed, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged they were aware that Gamedze was killed by a businessman, also from the hub, and it all emanated from the soccer circles. “Victor had his own mistakes but he did not deserve to die the way he did. He had brought joy and employment to many Swazis who are now unsure of their future,” one of the seven people interviewed said.

Another alleged that the businessman had revealed to his acquaintances that he had received threats from Gamedze. The person claimed the threats reached a point where some people were allegedly sent to the businessman to kill him, however, when they got to him, the hitmen allegedly changed their minds and decided to expose their motive.

Other allegations are that the two businessmen had not been seeing eye-to-eye and would often exchange heated words even in public. Some of the allegations regarding the ‘beef’ between the two will not be repeated.

Another source, who is a member of a gang in the city said he was positive that the death of Gamedze emanated from a feud between him and another big shot in the soccer circles. “This feud has been going on for a while and some concerned people had tried mediating but it never worked,” the source alleged.

The source alleged that the duo had a quarrel which revolved around beliefs that one of them was using an insider to use muti on the other party’s football team.
