PIGG’S PEAK – The family of a woman whose body was found mutilated, with the head and breasts missing will have to wait a little longer before they can bury her.

The murdered woman, Gcinaphi Msitsini’s body, was discovered on December 29, 2017 next to a road running behind the Pigg’s Peak Fire Station.
Msitsini is said to have left her house on December 24, 2017 with her friends on Christmas Eve and was never seen again. It is suspected that she may have been killed elsewhere and then her body dumped where it was discovered.

Funeral proceedings were stopped at the last minute when the family was informed that a post-mortem had not been done yet.
A post-mortem is a surgical procedure on a dead body to determine the actual cause of death (COD).
This plays a crucial role during police investigations.

Last Thursday, family members of Msitsini gathered at the hospital requesting for the post-mortem to be conducted but they were advised by the pathologist that this could not go ahead because of the missing body parts.
Msitini who is said to have been in her 40s was allegedly murdered during the Christmas long weekend.

She was a mother of six children including three she had while she was still living with her husband.
Though she had been previously married, she was expected to be buried near her parental home after the family agreed on the matter.
A senior family member revealed that a coffin had already been purchased around Pigg’s Peak in preparation for the burial but this was halted after the police pathologist told the family that they could not leave with the body.
