Swazis only in these flats

MBABANE – The on-ongoing township construction project by the Swaziland National Housing Board (SNHB) will see apartments available to Swazi citizens only.
The first phase of construction of the affordable rental houses, which commenced in Mbabane, and links Dark-City to Mbangweni Township, is set to be completed in June 2010.
The houses are targeted at low-middle income earners.
SNHB Managing Director Mduduzi Dlamini said; “The aim is to cater for the large number of locals that have recently entered the working class. Interested Swazis are encouraged to apply and if they meet the set requirements stand a chance to be granted accommodation. The apartments are designed for low-middle income earners who are finding it difficult to acquire accommodation around the city”.
The 32 units will each consist of two or three bedrooms and will be priced at a monthly cost of E2 500 and E2 800 respectively. The demand for houses in the capital city has exceeded supply in previous years, as more and more people are relocating to the city due to work commitments.
Quizzed on whether salary criteria will be considered when deciding the successful applicants to occupy the apartments, Dlamini said; “We will accept any citizen who can afford to live in our apartments. We will not discriminate any specific class but, through our research, we have identified the lower-middle income earners as the group that is most in need of accommodation in the city”, he said.
Citizens interested in renting these apartments are still urged to bring in their applications.
