MAN ARRESTED FOR BASHING, STRIPPING HIS MUM NAKED

MANZINI – “My mother is a sex worker, hence I assaulted her.”

This was said by a 21-year- old man who was arrested by the police for assaulting his mother with a wooden stick (Lujujo) all over her body, and further ordered her to strip so he could see her private parts.
This matter was before Magistrate Mthokozisi Dlamini, at Matsapha Circuit Court yesterday and the incident occurred at Mhlaleni, near Matsapha on Saturday.

The accused, *Menzi of Mhlaleni, was arrested after he severely assaulted his mother, *Gugu with the wooden stick and further insulted her, ordering her to show off her private parts.

Menzi also used insultive words on his mother and demanded money, which he said had been sent through by his father. During his court appearance, the non-remorseful accused admitted he had assaulted his biological mother.  He added that he was infuriated by the fact that he was aware that Gugu was allegedly working as a sex worker instead of a hairstylist in South Africa, as she had insinuated.

“I learnt that she was a sex worker after I went through pictures of her while in South Africa, she lied to me and said she had a decent job when she did not,” Menzi alleged.

The accused told the court that he did not respect his mother at all because of her dishonesty and for neglecting him. He added that he had been raised by his grandmother due to the complainant’s absence. When mitigating, he told the court that he was a first offender and had realised he had made a mistake.
