MOB OF 30 ATTACKS FAMILY

MANZINI – A family was left baffled after a 30-member gang attacked them out of the blue.

Nomphumelelo Sihlongonyane of Galeni area in Lwandle; under Chief Nkamane, still lives in fear after an old vendetta took another twist on Sunday. Sihlongonyane said it was at around 8am when they were preparing to go to church when about 21 young men from Masekweni approached her home. She said the gang pelted the family members who were outside the house with stones and further insulted them.

While the family was still shocked at what was going on because the men did not state why they were assaulting them, one of the men only shouted that it was d-day for her family to die.

In a bid to scare the gang, Sihlongonyane’s 16-year-old son tried to fight them but he was outnumbered. Meanwhile, another group emerged from another direction of the home. After a lengthy period of insults and stone throwing, Sihlongonyane said the mob retreated.

“We thought it was over, not knowing that more people were still to come,” she said. Later on, more men arrived armed and ready to fight. Then groups emerged from all directions surrounding the Sihlongonyane homestead. They allegedly threw stones at the main house smashing all its windows.

Even though they were outnumbered by the gang, Sihlongonyane’s two sons were brave enough to face the furious men who forcefully entered the compound and wrecked havoc on all the property. All this time, the men allegedly threatened that they would kill everyone in the family.
