MBABANE – About E1 million belonging to a former employee of UNISWA is lying idle after she was declared mentally unfit to handle her finances.

UNISWA is the acronym of University of Swaziland. Lungile Marget Dlamini was retired on medical grounds and the UNISWA Pension Fund is reported to be unable to locate her relatives. According to a report compiled by Clinical Psychologist Ndo Mdlalose, Lungile appeared with complex delusions and hallucinations. Mdlalose said this posed a detrimental effect on her (Lungile) cognitive functioning, insight and judgement. The clinical psychologist mentioned that based on the above, it was evident that Lungile was currently not psychologically and mentally fit to handle her finances.

According to Mdlalose, the delusions, hallucinations and affective disorders made Lungile to be impulsive and unpredictable. This is reported to have made her decision-making capabilities to be questionable and distorted. “I therefore recommend that the university holds back paying her any large sums of money, as she is currently incapable to make rational decisions,” reads part of the report compiled by Mdlalose. She went on to highly recommend that a curator be assigned as soon as possible to assist Lungile as she needed financial resources for survival.
