MANZINI – Members of the public got the shock of their lives when a man jumped into a public transport vehicle they had boarded, wielding a pistol and later exited through the window still carrying the same dangerous weapon.

Eric Derrick Khoza (35), a South African national, boarded the kombi after being chased by the police, who were alerted by employees of Taga Investments about the incident.

This was revealed yesterday during an inspection-in-loco held at Thomas Albrecht’s home, where all the seven E320 000 robbery suspects, attorneys, court officials, a team of about 30 officers from RSP and Correctional Services, were present.

Security was tight at the magistrates court which was heavily guarded with armed RSP and Correctional officers who were all carrying firearms and pistols during the appearance of the suspects.
A convoy to the place was witnessed and all the cars were ordered to move aside for order, upon arrival at the place. A heavy contingent of security personnel cordoned the area as cautious police officers in trucks and vehicles went around keeping off any unwanted persons.
The matter is before Principal Magistrate Joe Gumedze.

The robbery took place in April, 2016 and one of the arresting officers, Constable Jabulani Matsebula of the Serious Crimes Unit, said they had received a report that an armed robbery was in progress at the place popularly known as Emakhandleleni (Taga Investments) situated at Hhelehhele.

“Upon reaching the junction towards the farm, we came across a Mazda 323, an import, which was white and fully occupied by employees of the place. The car was being driven at a high speed towards Manzini.
