MBABANE – Former Mhlatane High School head teacher Simeon Makhubu was on the brink of suicide after he discovered that he had been conned about E1.6 million by Temkitsi.

Makhubu yesterday told the court that he purchased weevil tablets when he realised that the money he believed to have been requested by an alleged inkhosikati was pocketed by Sijabu Temkitsi Dlamini.
Temkitsi is the woman who allegedly siphoned money from Makhubu after convincing him that the money was required by the inkhosikati, who would pay it back.

The former head teacher, who is facing more than 80 charges of fraud, said there was a meeting that was convened at Pigg’s Peak Police Station where he got to learn that Temkitsi had been conning him all along.

He said at the meeting were the alleged inkhosikati’s brother and secretary of Liqoqo, Mandla Dlamini, Senior Superintendent Sam Mthembu, a man from Mshingishingini Royal Kraal, Pigg’s Peak station commander and Temkitsi. However, he said when he arrived Temkitsi was probably in a different room.

Makhubu said at that meeting he was asked by Mthembu if he had paid out money after being promised a job by royalty. He told the court that he agreed that he paid out some money but denied that he had been promised a job.
It was at this meeting that Makhubu said he discovered that he had been conned.

“At that meeting, I was shocked such that I purchased weevil tablets. I took them to school and kept them there as I wanted to see how this matter proceeded since I was so shocked. It was hurting me,” said Makhubu.
He alleged that from the money he gave to Temkitsi, with the belief that she remitted it the inkhosikati, he never benefitted a cent.
“Nkhosi yenkantolo angitfolanga ngisho nasenti lonaphayinaphu,” he emphasized.
