THEY MAKE US CLEAN UP USED CONDOMS – MAIDS

MANZINI – More than caring for the whole family; domestic workers revealed how they are made to clean-up used condoms by their bosses.

This was revealed during the domestic workers’ street dance, in commemoration of the Domestic Workers Day, which is observed internationally in July. The domestic workers were relieved off their day to day stress that they experience during their working days.
Winile Matsenjwa (39) and Nonhlanhla Dlamini (30) said they were the first to know whenever their bosses had an intimate night.
However, they were not referring to their current employers.

They said this was unhygienic and exposed them to a number of diseases as they used their bare hands to clean-up.
“We assume the duties of becoming wives and even iron underwear for the man of the house,” they alleged.
According to the domestic workers, the household was basically run by them and they make sure that they looked after the children, bathed them and prepared them for school.

They also cook for the family while the wives do nothing.
Another domestic worker said she has been working for the same family since 2014 and used to love her job.
“I no longer enjoy doing my responsibilities as I feel that I am being exploited.” She said as a live-in maid, she found herself working beyond 10pm, yet that was not the agreement when she was first employed.

The domestic worker said the saddest part was that they were not paid for the extra hours they worked.
