MBABANE – The wife of Mbabane-based businessman, Reuben Rautenbach, is demanding over half a million from him for alleged arrear maintenance.

The wife, Rose Rautenbach, now wants the businessman to be incarcerated for 30 days until he complies with the court order directing him to pay maintenance.
Reuben operates Inter- Trust Telecommunications.

In 2006, Rose alleged that she obtained an order directing her husband to pay her maintenance in the sum of E4 000 per month and E2 000 each for their then minor children.

Through her attorney Mxolisi Dlamini from Robinson Bertram, the applicant (Rose) yesterday moved an urgent application at the High Court, where she wants the court to direct her husband to pay a sum of E556 000 in respect of arrear maintenance.

She asked the court to send him to jail until he complied with the court order that was granted by the High Court on February 10, 2006.
She informed the court that they had been involved in divorce proceedings from about 2006 which to date had still not been finalised. Rose said this was despite that the divorce proceedings had been to the highest court of the land.

Rose alleged that during the subsistence of their marriage there were two children born. The couple is no longer staying together.
“I have been solely responsible for the upbringing of both children since they were three months and three weeks respectively and also continued to do that after the respondent (Reuben) had left the matrimonial home from the year 2006,” submitted the applicant (Rose).
