MBABANE – Do not incite war in this peaceful country! This strong message is directed to government through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Road Transportation Board (RTB) by public transport owners.

The ominous warning was issued by the Chairman of the Road Transportation Council, Duma Msibi, who made it clear that as public transport owners, they were not children to be bulldozed into making decisions at a whim of a few selfish individuals.
Msibi was responding to the reports that there is a new company that is being formed which will force out kombis and buses in all routes in the country.

Speaking to the Times SUNDAY, Msibi minced no words as he made was clear that the public transport sector was protected in the country and that no one had the right to mess with it. “This is a warning to those who want to disrupt the industry. As the Road Transportation Council, we have still not met with RTB who are engaging our members secretly and telling them about the formation a new bus project,” Msibi said.

He further said the council had decided to speak out because they were only receiving bits and pieces of information from their members who  have informed their respective associations that they were approached and formally informed of the proposed bus project worth E45 million. Msibi revealed that public transport in the country was a political weapon that was unyielding and strong in its resolve.

He said as such, it would be folly for those who were pushing for the bus project to push conductors and drivers into a corner where they would have to react, should they be forced out of their respective areas of employment. He said that those who wanted to force kombis out were messing with the wrong industry. “We do not want trouble in this country, but we want peace.”
