MBABANe – In an atypical incident, an alleged serial rapist has been charged for allegedly having sex with a lifeless body.

The accused, Julius Mjuluko Dlamini of Ngololweni, has been charged with necrophilia.
Necrophilia, also called thanatophilia is a sexual attraction or sexual act involving corpses.

Dlamini is alleged to have first raped Futhi Mndzebele before murdering her. He allegedly tied her with a red rope and later stabbed her all over the body.
Thereafter, he is alleged to have proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her lifeless body.

The spine-chilling incident is said to have occurred at Mhlane in the Manzini Region last year.
He was arrested recently and has been indicted in the High Court.
According to the charge sheet presented by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Dlamini allegedly intentionally and unlawfully committed a sexual act with Mndzebele, who was already dead and in the process committed the offence of necrophilia.

The accused is facing a total five counts which include rape, murder, necrophilia, attempted murder and attempted rape.
In the charge of necrophilia, one of the witnesses narrated to the court how they found Mndzebele lying in a pool of blood with her pants down.

Zandile Mngomezulu told the court that she was about to leave home for Siphofaneni when she was approached by Mndzebele’s friend, Samu Motsa. According to the witness, Motsa had come to visit Mndzebele. The duo is said to have repeatedly knocked at her room, which was locked, and the key was not in the door handle.
They allegedly then peeped through the window and saw her lying on the bed but there was no response.

In the summary of evidence, it is stated that the two were later joined by a certain Thandeka who opened the window using a fork and was later heard screaming loudly.
