Manzini – A woman had to seek refuge at a primary school while being chased after by her naked husband who was allegedly brandishing a firearm.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on Saturday at around 10pm at Zandondo.
The woman, Ngabisa Dlamini, who is in her 30s, was allegedly involved in an altercation with her husband, Thulani Khumalo (40) after he had allegedly accused her of cheating on him.
The pair had been allegedly experiencing problems in their marriage for years, especially after Khumalo allegedly lost his job at Pigg’s Peak Timber, a few years ago.
“Families from both sides had been called to intervene between the two on several occasions, however, nothing much changed.

“They even fight in front of their children which is bad. The latest incident where the wife was threatened with a gun by her husband was the final straw.
“He came out of the house naked chasing after his wife, accusing her of cheating on him with other men,” a relative, who preferred not to be named, said.
Information gathered is that the woman was with her child when the incident happened.
Upon reaching a river, Khumalo allegedly lost track of the two.

They ran into a nearby school, Zandondo Primary School, where they raised the alarm.
The school’s security guard, Gembe Zishwili, in a bid to protect them, locked them inside one of the rooms and immediately called the police.
Mliba police, led by Sergeant Poison Motsa, arrived at the school and after questioning the wife, they headed to their house where they arrested Khumalo.
He is said to have led the police to where he had hidden the unlicensed revolver, which was placed in between flowers near a rondavel at the Khumalo homestead.
Khumalo was taken to the police station and charged with contravening the arms and ammunitions act.

However, when asked if she would lay an assault charge against her husband, Dlamini refused and allegedly informed police officers that she feared for her life.
It was also gathered that after Khumalo’s arrest, Dlamini allegedly packed all her belongings and went to her parental home, where she currently resides.
