MBABANE – Fresh from addressing the SA Parliament, President Jacob Zuma jetted into the country last night.

Zuma is in the country to attend the fifth Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Summit.
Also to arrive was Botswana Vice President Eric Masisi.

Zuma was scheduled to arrive at 7pm but landed at the Matsapha International Airport at about 7.35pm. Before his arrival, he was addressing the SA Parliament where he told MPs he was not convinced by arguments that MPs should be given the chance to vote in secret on a motion of no confidence in his leadership.

“I’m sure by the time we get to December, it would be more than 10 motions of no confidence. Maybe it’s your job as the opposition even to try to find alternative methods. The fact of the matter is, you don’t have the majority,” Zuma is reported to have said.

This was after the SA Constitutional Court confirmed the United Democratic Movement’s (UDM) application to allow Parliament to hold a motion of no confidence in the president in secret.
Upon his arrival, the cheerful Zuma kissed and conversed with a young maiden who presented him with flowers before appreciating traditional dances.

He was welcomed by the SA High Commissioner, Happy Mahlangu and the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Jabulile Mashwama.
Meanwhile, Masisi arrived with his wife at about 6pm and they were welcomed by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Christopher Gamedze.

The fifth SACU Summit of the Heads of State and Government, will be hosted by His Majesty King Mswati III and Chairperson of the SACU Heads of State and Government at Lozitha.
The summit will consider the report of the SACU Council of Ministers on progress to implement the roadmap to re-invigorate the SACU Work Programme.
The report will also provide an update on the SACU Trade Agenda, focusing on the trade negotiations and trade facilitation programmes
