HOMOSEXUALS HIT BACK AT SENATORS

MBABANE – Homosexuals are spitting fire! They are saddened and angry over statements made by senators regarding their sexuality.

Following a motion which was moved by Senator Lindiwe Ngwenya that focused on access to health services for LGBTIs, most of the senators ended up debating the existence of such people.
LGBTI is an acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexual people.

As they made their submissions, senators turned the House into a place of laughter as they would use examples to describe how LGBTIs engaged in sexual intercourse, which they said was wrong and exposed them to risk of infections.

Rock of Hope’s Melusi Simelane said they found it saddening that some senators continued to oppress and demean their existence.
Simelane said the whole debate by those who were against the motion seemed to co-opt the experiences of all LGBTI persons who continue to be shamed at government hospitals.
“They dedicated themselves to misunderstanding the motion and made it about their deliberate lack of information about LGBTI persons,” he said.

Reality

He said the reality was that everyone could not be treated the same way, when everyone was not protected the same way.
According to Simelane, when he, as a gay man walks into hospital, he is quickly met with prejudice and disregard, which makes access to the healthcare they much deserved as per the Constitution impaired.
