STEPFATHER STRANGLES, KILLS 2-YEAR-OLD GIRL

MALIYADUMA – Two minors died tragically when they were caught in a jealousy wrangle of their parents.

The first incident is that of a two-year-old girl, Sakhile Gina,  who died painfully after she was severely beaten and strangled, allegedly by his jealous stepfather.
The baby had already been placed in her bed when the incident occurred on the night of Saturday May 27, 2017 at Maliyaduma.
A source close to the matter said the mother of the child had parted ways with the father and was now dating another man from the area whom she already has a one-month-old baby. 
The source said on the day, the father of  Sakhile was passing by the woman’s home and he decided to greet his daughter, but he found his ex-lover with her new boyfriend, resulting in his stay being brief.

Apparently, the woman’s new lover was now staying at her home.
The source said as usual, the two went to bed together and slept in the same room with Sakhile and the woman’s five-year-old child.
He said by that time, there was nothing suspicious in their mood that could have made them engage in an argument.
Thulisile Ndzinisa, the grandmother of the deceased minor, said they were shocked when her daughter woke them up towards 7am on Sunday, saying she did not know what was happening with her child as she was not responsive. 

Without wasting time, the grandmother, in the company of some family members, rushed to her daughter’s house and found the two-year-old lying unconsciously on the floor while the five-year-old child was sitting in a corner inside the house.
Ndzinisa said Sakhile had assault bruises all over her body, including thighs, legs and head. She said her clothes were wet around the neck, which had visible marks that she had been strangled.
Questions on what happened to the child were raised by the distressed grandmother but for some moments, there were no convincing responses from either the mother or the five- year-old child.
She said later on, the mother told her that her stepfather allegedly assaulted the minor with a stick but failed to provide further details.

“It was then that the five-year-old child started talking and said her mother had an argument with the suspect before taking lujujo and assaulted the minor, who was sleeping, all over the body until it broke into pieces.
Thereafter, the suspect is alleged to have taken ingcwembe and continued to assault Sakhile until it broke too.
The grandmother mentioned that indeed pieces of the ingcwembe were found in the house.

She said before she was buried the past weekend, a post-mortem was conducted and the results confirmed the story told by the five- year-old child.
The report said the deceased had internal bleeding in most parts of her body, mainly on the neck, head and sides of the body.
Police were called and they rushed the child to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba said the police were investigating a case of a two-year-old child who was discovered dead inside a house in the morning of May 28, 2017 at Maliyaduma.
