MANZINI – A batch of 12 vehicle keys stolen from a car dealership is being used by thugs to repeatedly visit the business premises to steal the automobiles.

As such, the police are investigating two cases of theft of motor vehicles from the same dealership. Apart from these, there had been several other cases of vehicle theft countrywide and such incidents have increased in recent months.
The police have cautioned motorists to be wary of their surroundings and where they park their cars. A recent case is that of Manzini businessman Sifiso Dlamini, who had his car business premises broken into and 12 car keys belonging to different vehicles stolen. On Saturday, at about 6pm, a group of armed men are said to have entered the businessman’s garage, S and S Motors situated opposite the Cathedral Church, and stole the keys from the office, which was also broken into.

After stealing the 12 keys, belonging to mostly Toyota double cab and Mercedes Benz vehicles, the suspects proceeded to open a personalised navy blue Mercedes Benz registered MNTOLOS MP valued at E200 000. Information gathered from the police is that the place had no security guard when the first robbery occurred.
However, after the break-in, the owner managed to secure the services of a guard.
The suspects returned the following day, presumably to steal more vehicles as they still had the batch of 12 keys with them.
Upon seeing the thugs, the security guard is alleged to have hidden, fearing for his life as the suspects were armed.

They are said to have gained entry into the premises by forcefully removing the gate. Using one of the stolen keys, the suspects stole and drove off in another vehicle, a grey VW Golf 4 registered JSD 202 BH valued at E35 000, which had also been parked at the garage. “The suspects are wanted by the police as they currently have all the car keys in their possession. Anyone who might have information which may lead to their arrest can contact Desk Officer Manzini, Assistant Superintendent Madlopha at 7605 7428 or Manzini Police at 2505 2221 or 999/9999,” said Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba.
Meanwhile, another vehicle, a grey Honda Fit registered PSD 700 CM valued at E38 000, was stolen while parked at Emakholweni on Saturday. According to the police, the vehicle belongs to a 33-year-old woman of Fairview.
