MBABANE – Mduduzi ‘S’chaza’ Matsebula was killed allegedly because he had overwhelming evidence against his three colleagues, who are implicated in the fingerprints case.

Matsebula was a  police officer who was stationed at the High Court of Swaziland.
It has since been established that Matsebula’s death has dealt the Crown a major blow as his evidence was vital for it to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt against the suspects.

He was allegedly deprived of his right to life a few weeks before he could take to the stand and testify in the matter that was due for continuation before Judge Cyril Maphanga in the next High Court session.

It is believed that the gruesome murder of Matsebula was allegedly aimed at eliminating him to prevent him from testifying against the police officers in the ongoing criminal trial. This is according to Lucky ‘Obama’ Matsenjwa’s charge sheet.
Matsenjwa has been charged with the murder of Matsebula. The charge sheet states that Matsenjwa acted jointly with other unknown people for the furtherance of a common purpose.

It should be noted that Matsenjwa tendered a resignation letter to the police service after he was arrested for allegedly clearing the criminal records for ex-convicts with his colleagues. Matsebula’s body was discovered by children who were returning from church, floating in a river in Ezulwini (Ebuka).

A post-mortem report has established that Matsebula was found with a swollen head and had gaping wounds all over the body, which left the Crown with the view that he met his death during the heat of assault before he was thrown into the river.
