PIGG’S PEAK – Members of Parliaments (MPs) are the ones who take body parts to traditional healers according to Nhlavana Maseko the president for THO.

THO is an abbreviation for the Traditional Healers Organisation.
Maseko was responding to a police officer Constable Thulani Gwebu who was speaking about some of the crimes committed with traditional healers.

He spoke during a workshop where several traditional healers were trained after which they graduated last Thursday. They were presented with certificates.
During a brief presentation, police officer Gwebu noted a concern that there were some traditional healers who used human body parts. He said this was a criminal offence and that such traditional healers could find themselves behind bars.

However, Maseko later responding to Gwebu said it was not true that traditional healers were using human body parts.
“These people you see here cannot go near a human body part because that is against their ancestral spirits,” he said.
He said it was in fact members of Parliament who took body parts to traditional healers.

“They then ask the traditional healers how they could be assisted with the body parts,” said Maseko.
Maseko warned that traditional healers should not be associated with human body parts.

Addressing a meeting made up of representatives from the Ministry of Health, Fire Department, Tourism and the police, Maseko said police officers can never be found with human body parts.

Maseko instead said such acts were usually associated with people from Parliament, teachers, bishops and businessmen.
