BUHLENI – A family of a seven-year-old has been left baffled after the minor allegedly hanged himself within the family yard while playing with his friends.

It is suspected that the minor was merely playing with his mates, possibly by challenging each other on what they termed a ‘suicide game’, when he died.
The incident happened in front of a three-year-old believed to be a cousin to the deceased, who was within the yard when the boy allegedly hanged himself.

Mystery, however, surrounds the alleged ‘suicide’ such that the police have opened an enquiry into the matter.
The matter is currently under active investigation by the Buhleni police.

Due to his age, the boy’s death has been met with shock as he is believed to be too young to have hanged himself intentionally.
It has been gathered that the seven-year-old had been living with a relative. He had not been attending school at the time of his death, although arrangements had been made for him to go to school in the second term.

The boy’s father is said to have died some years ago but his mother is alive, though he lived with a relative believed to be his aunt.
According to a resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, the boy was at home with another child aged three years old.
“He could have been playing because he is too young to commit suicide,” noted the resident.
Struggle
However, it is alleged that there was no struggle to show that he was trying to fight back the rope that was choking him.
